The laptop is a Compaq Presario R3000 (Intel version)

We seem to be experianceing random shut downs all the time. Sometimes it will come on and stay on for an hour or 2 some time it will shut down while windows is loading. Event viewer doesnt say anything towards the problem. The battery has been dead for a while so its definitally a power issue.

Also the shut downs are not BSOD just like yank the cord out the back dead.

Any ideas guys?

Is the bottom hot to the touch? Try getting a can of compressed air and blow out the vents. Maybe it's overheating

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Sure isnt. Not hot beoyond reason.

It will still do it if I leave it alone for about an hour or two in a nice and cold room. The computer will acually be cold to the touch but it will still do it on windows bootup.

Has me stumped. =P
