I hope someone here can help me with a problem...

I have an HP dv2000 laptop that only starts up properly every other time it is turned on. The first time I try to turn it on, the power indicator light comes on, the fan run, and the cd-drive spins, but the display never turns on and the hard drive never starts. After holding down the power button for five seconds to turn the computer off and then turning it back on, the laptop starts as it should with no apparent problems. This happens every time I try to start the computer whether the battery is connected or not and with two different AC adapters. The hard drive either; it was recently replaced and this problem occurs with both the old and new hard drive. The laptop also will not wake from hibernating or sleep mode.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Quite a few laptop hibernation problems stem from a corrupt video driver. Try uninstalling and reinstalling it

Thank you for your suggestion. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for my video card, however nothing has changed. Any other ideas?

Do you have any warranty on the laptop? I am thinking at this point it could be motherboard or something is not seated properly. You can try taking out the memory on the computer and reseating it again and see if the problem goes away.

Thank you for your help. The laptop is still under warranty, so I have contacted HP to send it in to be repaired.
