I have stupidly crippled my machine!
I have had big problems with Antivirus XP 2008 and ran kaspersky Online scanner report. I then proceeded to delete loads of files it said were infected - without realising that the infected files were also important to the operating system!

The symptoms I have on the machine now are as follows: unable to drag files from one place to another, unable to see the bar at the bottom of screen, start menu etc., unable to get onto the internet. There are probably other problems but these are the main issues.

Some of the files that were removed include: system32\karina.dat,system32\drivers\beeps.sys, system32\crypts.dll, system32\cru629.dat, WINDOWS\cru629.dat, WINDOWS\karina.dat

Any suggestions on how to fix this mess?!
Thanks

I would suggest a repair install of XP
If you have Internet Explorer 7 installed, read this article first: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=917964
Then follow these instructions for doing a repair install: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

As soon as you get back on the web, run a couple of these free online scans to ensure that you're not still infected:
(Be advised that some of these scanners will pickup things in "quarantine" from other anti-virus programs - so review the results carefully)
