After uninstalling norton internet 2008 (wanting to try a different suite on trial) even though i used the removal tool, i decided to check for any files left over ( in case of wanting to reinstall), i unchecked the hidden files and folders and checked them. In documents and settings/ application data I found some symantec folders (4 accounts on pc). But i also found folders from programmes I unstalled months a go because of the security risks they posed eg Bearshare/ Limewire etc.. Is it safe to manually delete these folders? Im hesitant as they were in a hidden file. Also after i used the removal tool i followed the advice given on this website about the removal of norton in the registry( using tune up utilities 2007 instead of regedit as it has an undo button) but after search im still left with over 50 items do they all need to be deleted? ( i may want to reinstall norton at some stage ) or is it ok to leave them?

Nope, they don't need to be deleted. They're "leftovers" that save your settings in case you choose to reinstall Norton at a later date.
