:crazy:Can't even access it to TURN ON or to TURN OFF. It is NOT running, checked my running processes...no there at all
i did find the file under Admin/SEttings, and it set to "automatic" but its not turned on and it wouldn't let me turn it on...error msg says "cannot be found" or somehting like that.....Also, when i try to access it in either safe mode or regular, get error msg saying RESTORE CANNOT PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER, PLEASE REBOOT AND TRY AGAIN
HELP....Called Gateway, and they suggested i do a RECOVERY reload of OS with my XP DISKS....don't wanna do that....i'd rather just install "RestorIT 7.0" for $20 and be done with it............any suggestions
I also tried doing a search via either "cmd" or regedit...(can't recall) for the following string..."RestoreObleepSafe" to no avail.......was told if i could find that and change value to 1, might get RESTORE back up and running for me....oh well, most frustrating...HELP ME SOMEONE!!

Try the fix at Kelly's Korner.

Restore/Enable System Restore - #278 on the left.

Right click on it and save the .reg file to your desktop. Then, double click on the file icon (on your desktop) to merge it into your registry. You may need to reboot your computer for the changes to take affect.

With any fix like this you should create a new restore point and backup the registry first. For backing up the registry I like to use ERUNT.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
