I was wondering can this work so that after i burn my avi files on to a DVD-R CD that it could later be played on the DVD player and on the computer no problem? Well the thing i found in Nero is that first to select DVD on the top and then choose photo and video and later choose Dvd-Video files burn; So will this work?

There is a good tutorial on burning AVI files to DVD, you can read it here.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

If you have a DVD player that is a DIVX DVD player then you can burn the .AVI onto the disk in Nero as a data disk and it will play straight away otherwise you have to convert the .AVI to DVD format so the DVD player will recognize the files on the disk. The easiest way I have found to do this is with a program called AVI2DVD. I have converted files using tmpegnc which is an arduous task and then in a video forum one day someone showed me this program and have been using it ever since. Its freeware and you can get a copy from afterdawn.com and yes it will allow you to start the movie without any menus.
