After receiving various .dll Iexplorer errors- (Iexplorer has caused an error in MRISAM10.dll and will close)- I updated and ran subsequent scans with all anti-virus, anti-spyware scanners. (AD-AWARE SE free, SpyBot S&D, AVG7 free, Online SYMANTEC Scan)

They all came up empty, so I thought I'd do an online 'Panda Active Scan'. It showed that I have been infected with 'LOOK2ME .dlls' in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. These files do indeed exist, but, can't be deleted normally as a program is currently using them. (EXPLORER).

It also found 1 entry with 'Definmedia' in 'C:\keys.ini', and one registry entry for APROPOS, both of which I can't find/verify.

I hope you can help...

Here is my fresh HJT LOG.

Download the following file:

http://castlecops.com/zx/Zupe/FindIt9xME.zip

and unzip the contents to a folder. When it has unzipped, open that folder and double click on Find.bat. It will run for a while, so be patient, and then produce a log (ignore any File not found messages on the screen, it should continue anyway).

Please copy and paste that log here.

From the moment you post your list, until you see a detailed fix written up, DO NOT reboot your system or log off. If you do, the files will have changed and the fix provided will not work.

Sorry Grinler,

Please copy and paste that log here.

From the moment you post your list, until you see a detailed fix written up, DO NOT reboot your system or log off. If you do, the files will have changed and the fix provided will not work.

(I'm hoping that when you say, '...the files will have changed', that it doesn't mean they will be undetectable on a new scan with that tool.?.?.?)

I posted my log at 5:21pm Central time, here in Missouri, but, it has since become unstable and I was forced to shut it down and restart it. If I understood you correctly, I was leaving the machine on until I seen you post back with a detailed fix. I kept checking back every 30 minutes.

I will run the tool again and re-post a new log. Hopefully, it will remain stable until I can get your detailed repair instructions...

Thank you for your patience-
Harddrive

Download killbox here:

KillBox

Unzip the folder to your desktop.

Start Killbox.exe

When it is open, enter C:\WINDOWS\jmjnz.dll into the field labeled "Full path of file to delete".

Select the Delete on reboot option.

Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.

Your computer will reboot and check to see if the file is gone.

Other than that i dont see anything else wrong

Killbox did the trick for that jmjnz.dll.

Thank you for the fix and all your expertise, even though mine seemed like a minor thing. Your knowledge is very much appreciated.

Do any of the other Qoologic files need to be cleaned up, [ie: pav.sig, user.dat files or the LPT$VPN.522 files]? Or will they disappear on their own?

Thank you again for your time!

No those other files are fine.

Log looks clean...great job!

Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable and reenable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

You can find instructions on how to enable and reenable system restore here:

Managing Windows Millenium System Restore

or

Windows XP System Restore Guide

Renable system restore with instructions from tutorial above

Next,

This process will clean out your Temp files and your Temporary Internet Files. Please do both steps:

Step 1:Delete Temp Files
To clean out your temp files, click on Start and then run, and type %temp% and press the ok button.

This should open up the temp directory that your machine uses. Please delete all files that are found there. If you get an error when deleting a file, skip that file and delete all the others. If you had trouble deleting a file, reboot into Safe Mode and follow this step again. You should now be able to delete all the files.

Step 2: Delete Temporary Internet Files
Now I want you to open up Internet Explorer, and click on the Tools menu and then Internet Options. At the General tab, which should be the first tab you are currently on, click on the Delete Files button and put a checkmark in Delete offline content. Then press the OK button. This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes. When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

Finally, and definitely the MOST IMPORTANT step, click on the following tutorial and follow each step listed there:

Simple and easy ways to keep your computer safe and secure on the Internet

Glad I was able to help.
