Hello All,
I have an optical USB mouse with no company name on it. It is not working, the cursor can not be moved but the scroller works. My laptop does not detect it although I can use the scroller to scroll down and up the page. I don't remember where I got it from and without the name of the company that made it, I don't know what driver to download. Is there a generic driver that I can use? Please tell me if you know of any. I will get a new mouse later but I will try to get this one to work in the mean time. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi winuser1, and welcome to BleepingComputer.

If this is the first time that you have plugged in the USB mouse you may need to enable it in the BIOS.

Most mice are plug and play, the native drivers of the operating system are usually all that you need. Look in the Device Manager to see if there are any errors (red X) next to the mice and other pointing devices, if there are double click on the error and see if the device in enabled, click on the Drivers tab and uninstall the driver and restart you computer.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
