I just pulled out and old computer & installed Avira Antivirus. It has popped up a couple of warnings in regards to TR/spy.43391 & TR/Agent.duu. I was previously running NOD32 on the system without any notifications. I haven't had any performance issues, or pop-ups. I looked at the HJT log myself, and didn't see anything, but I am not overly experienced with malware/trojans. I thought I would pass it by expert eyes to see if I have anything about which to be concerned. Your input is appreciated.

Hello jyxavier,

Welcome to Bleeping Computer

I don't see anything dire there, but let's do a couple of things to be sure. :)

Your Java is way out of date, which leaves your computer vulnerable.

Updating Java
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6_U7.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windows-i586.exe to install the newest version.
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from one of these places:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Ant...ware_d5756.html
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Thanks,
tea
Please make a donation so I can keep helping people just like you.
Every little bit helps! :)
You can even use your credit card! Thank you!

Hello,

You're welcome. :)

Nope, nothing dire. minibug is the adware part of Weatherbug. As long as it's gone, Weatherbug should be all right.

Please run HijackThis! and click "Scan." Place checks next to the following entries, if present:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: HP View - {B2847E28-5D7D-4DEB-8B67-05D28BCF79F5} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE

Close all browsers and other windows except for HijackThis!, and click "Fix checked".

Reboot your computer.

How is it running please?

Thanks,
tea

teacup,
Ran HJT again, and fixed 2 of the 3 items you indicated. I believe ALCXMNTR.EXE is the sound manager for this computer, so I left that alone. Let me know if you are aware of it working in another manner. Overall, the computer is running well. No real performance problems outside of it being a few years old. Again, thanks for the assistance.
