Hello! I have a HP m7250n Media Center computer (Windows XP MCE) with the latest BIOS upgraded from the HP web site installed. Having has some unrelated software issues in the past, I decided to reformat my drive (after backing up all my data) using the built in system restore.

One of the issues that I was hoping to resolve was access to the Com1 port. Unfortunately, even after a factory refresh it is still not available. After doing some Google research and testing on the PC, I suspect a hardware problem. Using System Information, under Hardware Resources > IRQs, there is no IRQ 4 for Com1. In addition, under Components > Ports > Serial, there is no information listed.

I saw some postings about making changes in the BIOS setup, but I do not see any specific settings in question.

Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.
