In case you missed it (most have) Xandros bought Linspire. Which will probably be the kiss of death for it. (Not that that's necessarily a bad thing mind you )

There was quite a discussion about this over on the PCLOS forums.
Yes Linspire will probably not survive, but this is somewhat a good thing
since it wasn't that great anyway. Xandros OTOH may actually benefit from
some of the Linspire code base. We can only wait and see.
I have tried both distros and while Linspire was a huge piece of junk I actually
like Xandros.
Bottom line is users are not going to pay for one distro when many others
(that are better, IMHO) are free. When a distro becomes "grandma friendly" then
users will start opening up their wallets.

Hay there raw
I must have missed that (just read the one tonight). I figured something was up when they closed down the Linspire Forum. I don't know why I used it as long as I did, it did nothing but constantly annoy me the last 4-5 months I used it.(it was very windows like :flowers:) CNR might be worth saving if they completely update it as every thing was at least a year old when I had it, that is when it worked right which was maybe 60% of the time for me. I was wanting Xandros when I got Linspire 5.0 on a pre-installed sys. for a price I couldn't hardly pass up. ($129.00 ) Should have installed the Kanotix Live CD I had been using instead of leaving it installed. Really glad I found PCLOS , as I seldom if ever feel a need to mess with any of my "other's" these days.(if only they had a catchy phrase like "Hopper Stopper" or something :trumpet:)

I'll mention that slogan idea, maybe they can come up with something.
I love the LiveCD versions so I can check out the many different flavors,
but PCLOS will remain my distro of choice. In fact my desktop is still running
version 0.93 because it works flawlessly. I don't feel the need to upgrade.
When 2008 final is done I will probably upgrade then.

I've used enough different distros to know what I don't like. I'm running 2007, and love it. I've got a .93"jr" here somewhere also. I don't post alot at PCLOS but if you look at my avatar here I get a "weird" feeling you know me when you see me even though I'm sans avatar there. I take it you tried MiniMe '08?

Yup Yup, have MiniMe on a 4G USB drive. I also throw the TinyMe CD
in every once in a while.
