I keep getting the error that's designated in the picture ive attached. "Some errors occured while processing tasks..." I get this when trying to send out an email but only when sending some emails. The emails are still apparently getting through to the recipient but im never certain. I assume there is some sort of virus or bug in the outlook files?

Here is Hijack log...

Hello and welcome to BC

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. We aim to provide the valuable service known to come from BC to every member we can, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

Upon completing the steps below a staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save to your Desktop.
alternate download site

DSS will do the following:
  • Create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
  • Clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, Internet Cache Files, and empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
  • Check some important areas of your system and produce a report for an analyst to review.
  • Automatically run HijackThis. It will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have it installed. So if HijackThis is not installed and DSS prompts you to download it, please answer yes.
You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges when using.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it and follow the prompts.
  • If your anti-virus or firewall complains, please allow this script to run as it is not

Hello. I am PropagandaPanda (Panda or PP for short) and I will be helping you with your log.

I will need some time to look over your computer's log(s). You may want to keep the link to this topic in your favorites. Alternatively, you can click the Posted Image button at the top bar of this topic and Track this Topic, where you can choose email notifications. The topics you are tracking are shown here.

Please take note of a few guidelines for this fix:
  • Refrain from making any changes to your computer including installing/uninstall programs, deleting files, modifying the registry, and running scanners or tools. Doing so could cause changes to the directions I have to give you and prolong the time required. Further more, you should not be taking any advice relating to this computer from any other source throughout the course of this fix.
  • If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing. I would much rather clarify instructions or explain them differently than have something important broken.
  • Even if things appear to be better, it might not mean we are finished. Please continue to follow my instructions and reply back until I give you the "all clean". We do not want to clean you part-way, only to have the system re-infect itself.
  • Finally, please reply using the Posted Image button in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Do not start a new topic. The logs that you post should be pasted directly into the reply. Only attach them if requested or if they do not fit into the post.
With Regards,
The Panda

Important Note to Other Users Reading this Topic: The instructions provided in this topic are for the original topic starter only. Even if you have similar problems or log entries to those given here, please do not follow the directions, especially those involving specific tools and scripts. Doing so can result in serious damage to your computer. Instead, please start your own topic. Feel free to link to any relevant topics as needed.

Hello Zachj. Let's get to work on the malware first. We will trouble shoot your OutLook problems after.

Download and Run OTMoveIT
  • Please download OTMoveIt2 by OldTimerto your desktop.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the quotebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\\AdwareProMFC
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupfolder\C:^Documents and Settings^Owner.ZACH^Start Menu^Programs^Startup^Deewoo.lnk
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupfolder\C:^Documents and Settings^Owner.ZACH^Start Menu^Programs^Startup^DW_Start.lnk

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner.ZACH\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{9A901E31-0F8C-4BEB-B293-4BAD6F5DD0BE}

  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the Paste List Of Files/Patterns To Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Posted Image button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Clear Outlook folders
Kaspersky has detected suspicious items in your Outlook folders. Please delete all items in your OutLook Inbox, Sent items, and other folders.

Update Antivirus
AVG 7 and AVG antispyware are now outdated. They've both been combined into AVG 8. Please uninstall them through Add/Remove Programs.

Please restart your computer.

Please install a free anti-virus program from one of the trusted venders below:Please run a full scan of your computer after.

Download and run MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
alternate download link 1
alternate download link 2
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
  • On the Scanner tab:
    • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
    • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
  • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

You can refer to this page which has a visual of the instructions above.

-----------------
Please post back with the OTMoveIt log, the MalwareBytes log, and a new DSS log (only the main.txt will appear this time).

With Regards,
The Panda

Gonna have a bit of an issue here. I can't just delete my inbox and sent items, i have to keep a track record of my correspondence way back for business purposes. I suppose I could delete the cadence folder and the inbox-old as I see those are where most of the viruses seem to be residing. I will go through the rest of the process though.

oh NO, I went and did the otmoveit2 program and it deleted everyting out of my outlook express! This is very serious, I had no warning this would happen. I had very important work documents from clients saved up over the last year in outlook. I went to do a system restore to yesterday's date and it did not restore anything at all. Please tell me this can be fixed!???

oh my god, this is seriously tragic. I went to a restore point even further back and not working. Main as well have wiped out half my hard drive. You had these commands below in that moveit program which wiped out my identity folders in outlook and everything else I had in there...

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{36EB4FC0-E974-424B-8A84-4B6001F39147}
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner.ZACH\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{9A901E31-0F8C-4BEB-B293-4BAD6F5DD0BE}

How do we reverse what moveit did? Did these files go somewhere that i can retrieve them from?? What the hell! Seriously this was very careless.

ok i found the latest outlook identity folder in the moveit folder and I imported it back into outlook and everything is as was previously. You guys almost gave me flippin heart attack here though. You guys have really helped me out in the past so im gonna overlook this. But I guess in the future just be aware that people have a lot of info stored in programs like outlook. I will just go ahead and delete the folders that viruses are showing up in from looking through the logs above, but I can't just go and delete my whole inbox or sent messages, I may just have to deal with the error poppping up.
