Folks,

First, thank you for providing this service. I have read other logs, and have attempted to follow the appropriate steps to clean a badly infected, ad-wared,
and hijacked computer. Spy-bot and Adware 6 found several packages to remove, and a complete virus scan is clean. (Each of these was with new definitions files). I have been unsuccesful stopping the popup windows, which are poping up anytime Google is run, etc. I have placed HJT in its own directory, and
created the following log.

Again, thanks for your help,

Randy

Hi there,

You have different infections in here, so let's take care of them one by one.

* Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Please download LSPfix and save it to the Desktop and unzip it.
* Run LSPfix and place a check against the I know what I am doing checkbox.

Highlight every instance of the following name and move it from the Keep to the Remove panel. Be sure to move nothing other than the file listed below!

aklsp.dll

When done, click on Finish to exit the program; do not use the X in the top right-hand corner as nothing will happen!

* Reboot into Safe Mode`:
°To get into the Safe mode as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key". Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ffis] C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\ffisearch.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qjxylfo] c:\windows\system32\qjxylfo.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tsvcin] C:\WINDOWS\system32\n20050308.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VBundleOuterDL] C:\Program Files\VBouncer\BundleOuter.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\vpzrzk.exe
O16 - DPF: {E0CE16CB-741C-4B24-8D04-A817856E07F4} - http://cabs.media-motor.net/cabs/joysaver.cab
O18 - Filter: text/html - {950238FB-C706-4791-8674-4D429F85897E} - C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\mfiltis.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Control Panel - C:\WINDOWS\system32\lv2209foe.dll

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

* Go to start > run and type in the field:

sc delete delprot

* Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them if still present:
(don't worry if you can't find some, we'll deal with it later)

C:\windows\system32\qjxylfo.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\nkad.exe
C:\WINDOWS\isrvs <==this folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\n20050308.EXE
C:\Program Files\VBouncer <== this folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vpzrzk.exe
C:\WINDOWS\wininit.ini
C:\WINDOWS\delprot.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\delprot.sys

*Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
Let it scan your system for files to remove.
Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
Press OK to remove them.

* Reboot your system back to normal mode.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and I'll take another look.

If you had any problems with deleting files or noticed any other problems during your fix, let me also know in your next reply.

Thanks so much for your help, Miekiemoes.

I have followed all of your instructions, hopefully with some successes.
Things worked well, except for two difficulties. The HiJackThis entry
Q20 - Winlogon Notify: Control Panel - C:\WINDOWS\system32\lv2209foe.dll
was no lo longer in the list. A few of the entries you had asked I delete under
safe mode were not present, but you had asked that I not worry about those.
However, I was unable to delete VPZRZK.EXE, which was present. Access was
denied. I looked for it as a process, but it was not shown. I checked the read
-only attribute, but that wasn't a problem. I tried stopping the process, but that
didn't work. I then cleaned the temporary files, as you had asked.

Upon rebooting, I ran HiJackThis. I did that prior to starting the internet. If that
is wrong, please let me know. I'm afraid Internet Explorer remains pocessed.
While getting back to Bleepingcomputer.com, I was sent to Upspiral, Spy protector
or whatever, the Apple Store, and a few others.

Thanks once again for your efforts. Please find the new log below.

Don't worry at all.
Now we will start with the real work. If you couldn't delete a file even in safe mode.. that's OK. We can take care of it.

Now just follow my next steps.

You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Great..

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Miekiemoes,

Wow, that was some process. I hope I haven't made things too difficult.
(I doubt it matters, but I'll mention that after a couple of days of chaos from
Internet Explorer, I rename iexplore.exe and quickly copied a file over the top
of it, so that some process couldn't recreate it. I installed Firefox, and although
its got ghosts of its own ... perhaps they're gone now ... it seemed less
bothersome.)

Anyway, I did as you had asked, and the machine responded as you had said.
However, I wasn't braced for the scan to last so long. I let it run more than an
hour, then restarted. It went back into the scan straight away (should have known ...).
I then let it continue for another 30 minutes, and it computered. The logs
follow.

(By the way, I hope it doesn't offend or go counter to some Hijack etiquite, but
if a wipe of the disk and reinstall is best, just say the word. I'm braced for that,
but know that if you're like me, you're unlikely to let the machines win.)

Thanks once again,

Randy

(By the way, I hope it doesn't offend or go counter to some Hijack etiquite, but
if a wipe of the disk and reinstall is best, just say the word. I'm braced for that,
but know that if you're like me, you're unlikely to let the machines win.)

No, no reinstall needed. We can take care of it. ;-)

Good, that one is gone now.
Now we are going to deal with the other stubborn one. But as I said, we can deal with it perfectly!

Next step:

Download FindQoologic.zip save it to your Desktop.
http://forums.net-integration.net/index.ph...=post&id=134981

Extract (unzip) the files inside into their own folder called FindQoologic.
Open the FindQoologic folder. Preferable to your desktop.
Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it.
Wait until a text opens.
Post this in your next reply.

If you get a similar error while running that searchtool like:
C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application...

Use this fix first:

Miekiemoes,

That was painless. I ran the XP fix, then the FindQuulogic program.
It produced the following log.

Cheers,

Randy

P.S. Lest I look like an idiot, "computered" was meant to be "completed"
in the previous post.

Good!!

* Download Killbox.
Click killbox.exe.
Select the option "Delete on reboot".

Now copy the next bold:

C:\WINDOWS\JONAN.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\AKRNR.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\TIYPYRE.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WINUP2~1.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\BNACAMX.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\VPZRZK.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WMCONFIG.CPL
C:\WINDOWS\UNADBEH.EXE
C:\docume~1\alluse~1\startm~1\programs\startup\NKAD.EXE

Open 'file' in the killboxmenu on top and choose Paste from clipboard

Now you will see, this is pasted in the "Full Path of File to Delete"-field.
There's a little arrow (dropdown-arrow) next to that field.
If you expand it, these lines must be there together!

Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.
Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be deleted on next reboot.. Click YES
When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES
If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just restart manually.

Your computer must reboot now.

When rebooted, post a new findqoologic-log.

Howdy,

Well that was fairly painless. The new FindQooLogic log is attached.

Great!

Open notepad and copy and paste next in the white field in it:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\fnygyxsg]

Save this as fix.reg
Choose to save as *all files and doubleclick on it.
When it asks you to add the content to the registry, click yes/ok

Now check and fix the next line in hijackthis:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\vpzrzk.exe

Reboot and post a new hijackthislog.

How are things running now?

That worked fine. A few minutes of browsing the big sites revealed no
problems at all. Outstanding. Quicker too, given that the machine isn't
trying to load 3 sites at once. I wouldn't have guessed that just naming
a file .reg would make it a candidate to alter the registry. I re-enabled
Internet Explorer, incidentally, and was using it to browse. The latest

Well done!!

That is a nice and clean log!
Well, we've done a lot more than fixing in the registry though. :D
And as I said, no reinstall needed. We could take care of it. ;)

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you perform an online virusscan once in a while. (housecall and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

More info on how to prevent malware you can also find here (By Tony Klein)

Outstanding, Miekiemoes. That is good news. Some of these steps I have
tended to, and will complete the rest tonight. A pleasure working with you.
I've thrown a few coins into the Bleepingcomputer collection jar. It should
be more, but I need to buy some protection software!

Thanks again,

Randy
