Printer Problem

after installing a new black ink cart. in my hp c3100 all in one printer,every time I turn it on it prints out a test page. This is a big waste of ink. Is their a way to stop this from happening?

You might check the user guide for the proper way to accomplish that or if it's even possible. Often a test page is required to 'charge' and set the print nozzles.

Thanks for your reply. still a little confused about needing to charge cart. this never happen before so maybe they did something different on new style of cart. or something. Thank you for your input

Your print software may be corrupt...I'd try uninstalling/reinstalling that.

When you change a cartridge it should print a test page. After that it shouldn't. Are you saying that after the initial test page, every time you turn the printer on for a print job, it's still printing a test page?

Yes it keeps printing a test page every time I go to use it

Are you using knock-off cartridges or refilling your own? When you ran the test page for the first time did you align the heads and allow it to complete the whole test? Here's what HP has to say:
