Hi guys,

Last night my pc got infected with the Antivirus XP 2008 trojan and my google searches directed me here. (I immediately removed the network connection when I discovered how compromised my machine was so there was only about 10 minutes use online while infected)

After reading some excellent instructions on a previous thread I decided to try Combofix myself to remove the infection.
On first inspection, the pc now seems to run okay but as advised, here is my Combofix report.

I'd be very grateful if someone could advise me if all is well and good again with my PC.

Thanks for all the help I've found so far!

Cold.

PS. I didn't bother with the recovery console because all my docs are backed up and if it came to reinstalling windows I've got a larger HD in the cupboard that's been waiting for such an opportunity.

Please note the message text in blue at the top of this forum.

ComboFix logs should not to be posted outside the HijackThis forums. It is an extremely powerful tool which should only be used when instructed to do so by someone who has been properly trained. ComboFix is intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert", NOT for private use. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

Further, you did not follow the required instructions for using ComboFix which are provided when the tool is used under proper supervision as its log indicates your machine does not have the Recovery Console installed.

Please create a new topic explaining the nature of your problem in the Am I infected? What do I do? forum. Describe pop-ups and system tray or desktop icons that have appeared. Explain what is "going wrong" with your computer. Note any tools you have used and their respective results.

If needed, we will direct you to our HJT Preparation Guide.

Thank you for using BleepingComputer as your malware removal source.
