I'm at my wit's end.

Problem: Tuesday night my computer was working fine; Wednesday morning every web site returns a Network Timeout and Outlook returns "unable to connect to mail server".

Software: XP PRo SP2; Firefox 3; Outlook 2002

Things I know:
1) All other devices on my network are working correctly;
2) Threatfire, AVG 8.0 and spybot - search and destroy all show a clean system;
3) I can ping all web site and email servers and get a response time that match what I get from other computers
on my network.

Any ideas would be helpful!!!

Hello SpaceCadetDan,

The problem might be related to a recent security update from Microsoft. See the following thread:

Thanks for the quick response. I changed the Internet Zone settings to Medium from High and Life is back to normal (crazy)
