Hi, I recently ran an online Kaspersky scan and the results said that I had been infected with Trojan.Win32.Patched...I honestly am not big on computers and have no idea what that is...I just wanted to know if it is dangerous/how to remove it. Also, I tried to save the kaspersky log after scanning, but for some reason I cannot access the files, it just says that they don't exist! I am really confused about that, and instead I was forced to copy down the locations of the infections shown on the main screen since I couldn't access the log...

C:/Program Files/HP Games/Diner Da.... (1 infection) Trojan.Win32.Patched
C:/SW Setup/HP Game/games/dinerda... (1 infection) Trojan.Win32.Patched

That's all that was visible, sorry I can't give you the full location. Anyways if u wanted to see my HJT log that's also posted, thanks!!!

ok here's the deal...that infection i talked about that kaspersky picked up is now gone...i did another online scan today and found no infected files from kaspersky so I'm not quite sure how that happened lol I guess it just went away. So could you take a look at my HJT log and make sure everything's okay then?

Also a few other things...

1. Whenever I run spybot, it picks up malware called BPSSpywareRemover and I keep on fixing it, but it just comes back everytime. Do you know anything about this program and its potential danger on my computer?

2. I have a program called SystemGuards which scans my comp and finds a whole bunch of infected registry files (but I cannot remove them without upgrading for a charge). But some of the other very powerful scanners, such as kaspersky, find nothing at all. Do you know anything about SystemGuards and if it is legit??

SystemGuards seems to legit it appears to be made by McAfee.
Is there anyway to get a log from it of what it finds?
Please do not pm for help, post it in the forums instead.

Hi thanks for the reply!

I couldn't find a way to save a detailed log report, but I sent SystemGuards an email, maybe if there is a way they will tell me tomorrow. If I just gave you the names of some of the infections detected would that not be of any help at all? It doesn't say the locations of the infections anywhere....

I also noticed that whenever I have SystemGuards installed I'm unable to open any files by the "Run as Administrator" command on my vista. Just a curious observation, thought I'd let you know!!!

I personally think that they are false positives and I wolud uninstall it since it seems to interfere with your Operarting System.
IMO McAFee products are garbage and they rarely detectec anything but tools that we use to get rid of infections.

Whenever I run spybot, it picks up malware called BPSSpywareRemover and I keep on fixing it, but it just comes back everytime. Do you know anything about this program and its potential danger on my computer?

Can you provide a log from spybot please.
Open Spybot go to Mode>Advanced>Tools>View Report.
Post it here or attach it please

It appears to have removed it:

BPSSpywareRemover: [SBI $56D821C1] Type library (Registry key, fixed)
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{602E2CE0-53F7-11D2-A7F4-00A0C91110C3}

Does it seem to find it after reboot or just every time that you scan?

i think its after every reboot, because on sunday I scanned for it and it showed up and spybot removed it, but then i did another scan directly afterwards and it wasn't there anymore. I ran spybot again today and it showed up, so it seems to be after every reboot.

Ok please do this Right click on Spybot and choose Run as Administrator.
Then Check for updates then apply the updates then do another scan and fix all of the items found.

Then please post the resulting log in your next reply.

Hi thanks for the reply

I ran the spybot scan after rebooting and no infections were found. But the previous instructions that u gave me are exactly what i have been doing for the last couple of weeks, and and infection keeps on eventually reappearing even after SpyBot "fixes" it. So I guess I'll rerun a scan this evening and see if it comes up again...

Hi, sorry for the very long delay

I've been running scans for the last couple of days and seems like it must be gone! I still have a strong feeling that it will come back eventually but I guess we're good for now...can I reopen this topic later if it comes back??? Thanks for your help!
