My father wants to change the desktop wallpaper but I can't do it. When I go to properties> desktop, the browse and stretch button are grayed, as is the word "background". There is no response when you click on the name of a desktop picture or try to scroll. Right now there is an annoying picture on the desktop, and of course, I don't know the name of the file. Can you help me fix this so I can change the desktop? This is XP media edition.

Hello CaroleAnne,

Have you tried going to your My Pictures folder and selecting an image, right click the image and select set as desktop background.
Regards,

Alan.

Thanks for replying. Yes, I am logged in as administrator. One thing I can do under Display Properties> Desktop is change the size of the wallpaper photo. It is now a small square photo in the middle of a blue background. However, the problem with changing the destop still exists. The browse button and the word "background" on the right over the list of XP supplied wallpaper are still grayed out and I cannot scroll down. Now that I have been able to minimize and center the Hanna Montana picture, it is better but I am concerned that the lack of ability to change the desktop is indicative of a problem in the system. What do you think?
