I have installed Service Pack 3 seemingly without a problem until I try to access web pages. I cannot do so. I am told I am not on line ; I am using an incorrect URL etc. I cannot even access Google.

When I use System Restore all is well but SP3 keeps trying to install itself.

I have downlaoded the Blocking programme but obviously I shall need this Pack some time.

Has anyone else had this trouble, please? If so, what did you do to resolve it?

( I tried typing in Windows XP Service Pack 3 into the Keyword dialogue box at the bottom of the main listings but keep getting Error!)

Windows XP Home Edition
Internet Explorer 7
Intel 2992 MHZ

Avira anti Virus
SpyBot
Adaware
Zone Alarm )Free)
SuperAnti Spyware (Professional)
Spyware Blaster

My thanks in advance.

You are correct that that download has been causing problems.

I have fixed the link regarding how to use event viewer.

Thanks, Nigglesnush85 and Animal for your help.

I have printed off John's instructions/advice.

I still cannot get information using the Search facility as I know very often others have "my" problem and I always check first.

I do know I have to use more than four characters and not "words" such as html but typing in problem with Microsoft download did not help either.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you trying tou use the search function on this site?

I would say that ZoneAlarm is the problem with the loss of internet. ZA has released a workaround for the problem found at http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/pre...ccessIssue.html

Alan.

Yes, Alan, the Search facility at the bottom of the page.

I hate wasting people's time when they have already answered a particular problem so I always try to check other submitted questions before posting mine.

I have downloaded the "new" ZA.

My thanks.

Does your system work correctly now?

Try using the search function at the top of the page, in between members and help then select more search options. this will allow for more detailed options when searching for a specific problem. if you need to search for a word under the minimum length of characters you can use the " key for example "service pack two"
Regards,

Alan.

Yes, the system is working, now, thanks.

I uninstalled the rogue file and have now downloaded the "new" Zone Alarm.

hello everyone,
I know I am new here, but I love this cat tapping its "Fingers"-----where did you find it?? My friend who is a cat lover would get a real kick out of that.

But really, my question is on my XP pro it will load to the desktop partially and then hangs for 3-5 minutes. I can not figure out if it is the UPS software that is causing the delay, it did not seem to happen before that was installed. Or it may be a registry issue, I will look up your notes on how to clean that up. Short of a total re install, which I do not wish to do-----I need my Adobe updates for CS2 and may not be able to claim them again now that CS3 is out.

I do not know my hardware config, can look that up if you need more information. Thanks.
