Try this free program...Dial-a-fix...It should restore automatic updates. Usually these types of problems are caused by malware. Have you ran any scans for malware?

Thank you!!
Well i am having a problem with my desktop. It comes up with a blank white screen and its says error file:///c:/WINDOWS/privacy_danger/index.htm all the time. I have posted something about this in another part of this forum but no reply yet.
So think this may have something do with it??

But i am also ran about 3 scans via Avast! but nothing is coming up.
Any help with be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Try these free online scanning tools...Download and try one at a time...The symptoms that you are describing most definately are malware related...Which one? Who knows...

http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
http://www.pcpitstop.com/freescan/
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
http://lavasoft.com/

Note that Avast is on the list so just skip over it and try the others. You may have to temporarily disable your current Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware programs to perform these scans.

I'd suggest that you stick with the other thread right now (located here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/156115/blank-white-screen-and-its-says-error-filecwindowsprivacy-dangerindexhtm/ )
This is usually one of the signs of an infection - and it appears that it's corrupted your Avast installation.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
