Hello all

I have some how got some spyware on my Laptop, and now all I get are lots of pop ups whenever I go online! Maybe spyware is not the correct terminology??

Any way, I have tried spybot, AVG, and I have highjack this, but after I have created a log, I am not sure what I'm loking at. Can any one help? I have just found this forum and am about to do some reading up but thought i would pop my Decards System scanner log on here so people can take a look (if they would not mind) whilst I do a little research. I have psted the notes file below. Any help would be very much welcomed :-)

Hello fitter79,

Welcome to Bleeping Computer

Please go to http://virusscan.jotti.org , click on Browse, and upload the following file in bold for analysis:

c:\documents and settings\debra king\local settings\application data\oikuk.exe

Then click Submit. Allow the file to be scanned, and then please copy and paste the results here for me to see.

Thanks,
tea

Hello,

That is odd. No worries though.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from one of these places:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Ant...ware_d5756.html
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Thanks,
tea

Hello,

You're most welcome.

So now we know....those bad files are usually well hidden with this infection, which is why they weren't in the HijackThis log. Let's make sure they're all gone :

Please download F-Secure Blacklight (fsbl.exe) and save to your C:\ drive.
  • Open a command window by going to Start > Run and typing: cmd
  • Copy/paste or type the following in the command window: C:\fsbl.exe /expert
  • Hit "Enter" to start the program and then close the cmd box.
  • Accept the user agreement and click "Next".
  • Click "Scan".
  • After the scan is complete, click "Next", then "Exit".
  • BlackLight will create a log in C:\ drive named "fsbl-xxxxxxx.log" (the xxxxxxx will be the date and time of the scan).
  • The log will have a list of all items found. Do not choose to rename any yet!
I want to see the log first because legitimate items can also be present...like "wbemtest.exe" and "tcptest.exe.
  • Exit Blacklight and post the contents of the log in your next reply.
How is it running now please?

Thanks,
tea

Hello, sorry its late. I have uploaded the file you asked for, I don't think running this has helped. It seemsto have found the file you wanted to have scanned before :-)

Hello,

No need to be sorry. That little tool was just a scanner, so it would not have made any difference.

Please enable viewing of hidden files as follows:
1) Go to My Computer, and click on the "Tools" menu
2) Click "Folder options"
3) Select the "View" tab
4) Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected
5) Make sure "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked
6) Make sure "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" is unchecked

Now follow this path and delete those files :

C:\documents and settings\debra king\local settings\application data\oikuk.exe
c:\Documents and Settings\Debra King\Local Settings\Application Data\OIKUK.DAT
c:\Documents and Settings\Debra King\Local Settings\Application Data\OIKUK_~1.DAT
c:\Documents and Settings\Debra King\Local Settings\Application Data\OIKUK_~2.DAT

There should be 4 of them all told. Reboot after, and rehide your hidden files. As always, let me know how you come out, and how it's running.

Thanks,
tea

Hello,

Not to worry. :) Nobody is being stupid, except those stupid files.

This tool is not a toy. If used the wrong way you could trash your computer. Please use only under direction of a Helper. If you decide to do so anyway, please do not blame me or ComboFix.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply please, along with a new HijackThis log.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Thanks,
tea

Hello,

I will answer your questions, but could you please tell me first if you've restarted the computer? If you have and you're still getting the popups, please run Blacklight for me again and post the log. The infection files are morphing.....but ComboFix should have stopped them. Let me know when you post the log.

Thanks,
tea

ello,

Yes, do that and let me know. No, your logs look all right. That's why I was kind of puzzled as to why you said you were still getting popups. :)

Please delete ComboFix and its accompanying folder C:\Qoobox. Empty your Recycle bin and reboot your computer.

Regards,
tea
