So, whenever I watch streaming video or a downloaded avi or mpg, my computer will completely lock up randomly and force me to reboot. What could the issue be? A friend said scanning and posting my HiJackThis log could help.

Any ideas?

So, I noticed about a month ago when I was watching an MPEG that vista completely stopped responding. the screen froze, keyboard locked up after a few seconds and the "busy" light on

This has started happening more and more frequently. At first it was only MPEGs AVIs,.... now, randomly when I'm watching a streaming video the same thing will happen.

It also happens when the graphics start to load in my favorite game MOHAA ...

sometimes the video will play for 5 - 15 minutes before freezing, and sometimes it'll freeze right off the bat. sometimes over an hour into what I'm watching.

My first solution was to DL service pack 1... 5 hours wasted for nothing, IMO. What could be the problem here?

NOTE: When i say freeze, it has NEVER unfrozen. It locks up. After about 5-7 minutes it'll switch off to a BSOD (?) with really fuzzy writing on it. If you think there may be important info in the fuzzy writing lemme know and I'll try to write it down

EDIT: took screenshots of fuzzy blue screen:
