Over the years, I have used various firewalls (Zone Alarms, PCTools, Windows) and av/spyware (AVG, Spybot, Spyware Doctor, and Spyware Blaster). Recently I ran the PCTools Firewall and Spyware Doctor together, but somehow I had the feeling in my water that I wasnt completely protected. I have Spyware Blaster running at all times. Despite the fact that I do updates religiously and follow the advice about how to make sure your pc is running at optimum speed, increasingly I find that my pc is running slower and slower - but I have a reasonable spec for my needs - I'm not a downloader of music or videos or have any hungry programmes running. Basically I think I need to have a good spring clean and in the process of that I was wondering if whether bc people think that it is a good idea, mainly for stability's sake (ie so there are no conflicts between the Firewall and the AV/Spyware) if one goes for a combined package? I was going to give AVG's a shot and tried to download the free trial (the complete package including the firewall) but was advised at installation that the licence was expired. (That's another issue I know which I can sort out separately.) But in principle, is it a good idea or not? Advice gratefully received.
