Hello,
I have a dell vostro 1000 laptop with xp sp2.
Most of the time when i shut down i get an error:
"" Explorer.exe-Application Error. The instruction at 0x01b00065 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written"
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on cancel to debug the program "

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks

Hello usrnme14,

When does this error occur? I would recommend using the System File Checker, by clicking start then run and type sfc.exe /scannow
Regards,

Alan.

Alan,
I'll give that a try.
The error itself occurs once i press the shutdown button and it begins the shutdown process.

Thanks

When windows shuts down it must unload all of its processes. It is possible that explorer.exe is not being unloaded correctly. Also a look in the event viewer located in administrative tools in the control panel might shed some light on the cause of the error.

Alan.
