Hi.

I am trying to rid a bleeping computer of the virus that has caused IE to be hijacked by a message from XP Antivirus claiming that all websites I try to navigate to our suspect, and then wants me to buy the program, etc. The OS is Windows XP Media Center.

Please note that I have tried the removal instructions posted on this website, however, when I run the FixPAV.reg, it temporarily fixes the problem, but renders my Add/Remove programs useless from the control panel. All of the sudden, there are no option buttons to change/remove.

I restored the registry to its previous state, and ran the DSS (please find log file to follow). Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I do not wish to reimage this machine....

Many thanks,
rebella45

I apologize for the very long delay. We have a huge backlog of HijackThis Logs to handle and it has been taking us greater time than normal to get caught up. If you are still having a problem, and want us to analyze your information, please post a brand new HijackThis log, along with a description of any problems you are experiencing. If we do not hear back from you within a couple of days we will need to close your topic.

When posting your logs please post them directly into the reply. Do not attach them.

Thank you for your patience.
