Hi,
I am brand new to the forum and i look forward to getting to know some of you in time. Right now though i have this interesting problem.
i am happy to provide technical information if required. But this is such a particular problem that someone may recognise it.
My desktop was hijacked and replaced with a blue screen with a "your computer is infected with a virus get a scan!" text box. That was easy enough to fix, but i can't seem to get a handle on the screensaver hijack which is a fake system failure blue screen with the typical white text detailing some spurious fatal error e.g. "page fault where no page specified" or "panic_error_stream" - you get the picture! the next bit is a windows xp boot up screen. A couple of mouse clicks and the screensaver goes away - as they do.
I have a Hijackthis log file .
This is not a trivial problem because all my system restore points are gone.
Any suggestions warmly welcomed
Dean

I am following Thunder's advice to CoachDW in the meantime.
