Hello, I've been having countless issues with my AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, and I was recently looking through some of Newegg's deals for the BC community. I saw the "AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Black Edition Processor" for about 4 times less than it would cost to replace my current one with a new AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+.. But I am unsure whether it will work. I've never replaced a processor, so any help would be appreciated.

Specs:
Gateway GT5056
Windows XP Home SP2
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ 2GHz
2 GB DDR Ram
NVidia GeForce 7900 GS
300 Watt Bestec Power Supply

As for the motherboard, I am unsure. According to Gateway's website, I have a Foxconn C51GU01. But according to CPU-Z, I have a Foxconn C51MCP51.

I'd also like to know if my power supply and tower (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133046) that comes in the deal with the processor for no price would have any troubles mounting 2 APEVIA CF12S 120mm Case Fans (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811998127)

PLEASE HELP!!

The AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ is a socket 939.

The AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ is a socket AM2.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Well I see that it won't work then  . Could you suggest a motherboard with a reasonable price that would support ddr ram, nvidia video cards, and the am2 socket? (if it even exists  )

I can afford the new processor and maybe a new motherboard, but not new ram to add onto all of that

It now looks to me that I have to buy a new motherboard, processor, ram, and power supply to fix this stupid problem my processor is having.. this is ridiculous
