Hi. I'm a bit-illiterate helping an even worse bit-illiterate friend who has caught *the works* thanks to 9 year old boy clicking at what moves. It's been two days and a couple less viruses and Trojans later i'm stumped. I think her Norton was modified by malware: couldn't get it to remove what it found so i uninstalled (partially) and installed avast + zonealarm. Multiple scans with Ad-aware SE and Spybot and another one... Browser is continually hijacked, malware can't be removed.. by me, that is. Thanks in advance!

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then close all other windows--you should only see HijackThis on your Desktop--and click the Fix Checked button.

Hello buckeye_sam, thanks for responding so quickly. For the moment i can't access her computer with logmein since its off and she's not home. QUESTION: will i be able to log on her computer if i remote-start it in safe mode ? (probably not but just asking, don't do any resaerch for that question). I'll guide her by phone if i have to. As soon as i can i will post back ( could be a few days ). Thank you so much, i'll be sure pay-pal-pay if this works... this forum is great !

We need to get a better look at what's on your computer. I need you to show me three different logs.

Download rkfiles.zip
http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip
Unzip the contents to a permanent folder.

Reboot in Safe mode.

Doubleclick rkfiles.bat
It will scan for a while, so please be patient.
Wait till the DOS window closes and reboot back to normal mode.

Post the contents of C:\log.txt in your next reply.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Please download FindQoologic from here:
http://forums.net-integration.net/index.ph...=post&id=134981
Save it to the desktop and run Find-Qoologic2.bat. This will generate a log file; please post the entire contents of the log file here for me to see.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Download Killbox from here.
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

Run KillBox, select the option: Replace on Reboot
Then, in the Full Path of File to Delete box, copy and paste this entry:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\vrrrmp.exe

Select the option: Use Dummy
Press the button with a red circle and a white X (Delete File button)
Click Yes at the Replace on Reboot confirmation prompt.
Click No at the request to reboot.

Do the exact same as above for each and every one of the files that follow, and select No at the request to reboot!

C:\WINDOWS\system32\annnp.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pqqqb.dat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\PwrSrchP1.dll

Finally, in the Full Path of File to Delete, copy and paste the following:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\tppphit.dll

Press the button with a red circle and a white X.
Click Yes at the Replace on Reboot prompt.
Click Yes at the request to reboot.

On this last file, close KillBox and Notepad, and Reboot the computer!!

Please post a new rkfiles log and a hijackthis log.

Hi, on reboot from safe mode to normal mode after the rkfiles scan, there appears two windows, one a dos window with the title c\windows\system32\vrrrmp.exe and over it a systems message that asks something like (cant quote it exactly because its a french system and the message is in french) :
title: 16 bits lower system ms-dos
message:
c:\windows\system32\vrrrmp.exe
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT
the system file is not adequate for the execution of ms-dos or ms windows application (? programs). Chose close to end the "application".
buttons: close or ignore. I clicked ignore.

Here is the rkfile log and hjt.

a question: My friends computer has four accounts (windows xp home). I briefly visited two of the accounts and it seems that ie still has search bars, and casino shortcuts in the favaorites... should it just be reset or does it mean i have to re-do all that (HJT and all) on all the accounts ? (spysweeper does not seem to load on these accounts also)
heres the HJT log:

Sigh... i ran spysweeper, then did the show all files routine then run HJT and fixed what i could see was obviously wrong...

should i post these HJT logs also ? (4 users total)

The log you have been posting is clean. Yes, you can start posting the logs from the other users. Just post them one at a time so we don't confusion about which action is for what log. The fixes should be quick and easy.

Ookay-dookay.
HJT log from user2 (spybot finds c2.lop, cannot remove it because its in memory, asks for a sweep on reboot, removes it on reboot... all seems fine, except if you answer "yes" when IE asks for permission to execute script, wich it asks everytime the page changes, then IE is re-hijacked...)
