Problem On System Start-up

Hi,
This problem arises on every system start-up.Iv been getting this Run DLL error message, "error loading c:\WINDOWS\system32\hqmahetf.dll".Just yesterday, i scanned my system local drive C: for any malicious content using Avast! 4.I got a list of infected files, which i deleted.Henceforth, i get this error message on every system start-up.Apart from that, my pc is working just fine.Please help me!!!!

HI

You are getting that error on startup because the malware file c:\WINDOWS\system32\hqmahetf.dll has been deleted, but the run key remains in the registry & when you boot up windows is still looking for it. we just need to remove the run key & the error will go away :-

This is the key as seen in hijackthis :-

simply run hijackthis and place a checkmark next to it, then click "fix checked" the error will not appear anymore when you boot your computer :thumbsup:

However hijackthis also shows you have a trojan Win32.Delf downloader ... so I want you to run some more scans for me ...

Download Deckard's System Scanner (formerly Comboscan) to your Desktop.

Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

1. Close all applications and windows.
2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt in your next reply.
5. Then do the same with extra.txt

Note: you'll find extra.txt here :- C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt

Please remember to post both txt files ...


Note: some firewalls may warn that sigcheck.exe is trying to access the internet - please ensure that you allow sigcheck.exe permission to do so.

Please run a Kaspersky Online Scan

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

Click Accept

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky,
Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan: Select My Computer
  • The program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Once finished, save the log to your Desktop as filename KAV.txt
THEN ...

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply.
