We use two Okidata Microline 420 printers at our check in desk. One printer has started to produce uneven print results in a patternn that runs the length of the page - that is to say, when looking at a completed page, the light or dark areas of print line to line are at the same location on each and every line printed. Ribbon was replaced with no improvement of print quality. This printer has been used heavily to print various reports throughout the day for three years

Is it possible that the print head itself is at fault? Is replacing the print head as straight forward as it appears? A new printer will run in excess of $400 while a replacement printhead is priced around $65. Any insight will be appreciated as info via Internet seems to be very limited.
