This is the background info and current status:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/152386/need-help/

I was able download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, but it wont let me open the set up for it.

I ran another spyware remover and Norton 360 and two standalone scanners and still have this thing.

The only thing it does is not let me go to bleepingcomputer.com, or any other malware/spyware removal websites.
It does let me go to all other websites. O and it only lets me setup and run an older hijackthis, it wont let the newest hijackthis run.
And it causes the DEP error in notepad.
And safemode has the same results as normal mode
I cant open notepad or come to this website on the computer so I am typing this on my work computer so I cant do anything until tonight PLEASE HELP!!!!

This is the hijackthis log:

Hi ac1italiano!
Let's see what we can do for you.

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save to your Desktop.
alternate download site

DSS will do the following:
  • Create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
  • Clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, Internet Cache Files, and empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
  • Check some important areas of your system and produce a report for an analyst to review.
  • Automatically run HijackThis. It will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have it installed. So if HijackThis is not installed and DSS prompts you to download it, please answer yes.
You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges when using.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it and follow the prompts.
  • If your anti-virus or firewall complains, please allow this script to run as it is not
    malicious.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open in Notepad:
    • main.txt <- this one will be maximized
    • extra.txt <- this one will be minimized
  • If not, they both can be found in the C:\Deckard\System Scanner folder.
  • Please copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.
-- When running DSS, some firewalls may warn that it is trying to access the Internet especially if your asked to download the most current version of HijackThis. Please ensure that you allow it permission to do so.
-- If you get a warning from your anti-virus while DSS is scanning, please allow DSS to continue as the scan is not harmful.

Hi again sam! and thank you,
Ok I wasnt able to download it form the infected computer since I cant even go to this site with it.
But I did download it to a USB drive and was able to open the program on the computer.
When it was running it had a couple of error messages but it did run the scan.
And when it was done I wasnt able to open the notepad file, since notepad doesnt work. so I had to save the files and make this post on another computer. ahhh I am ready to throw the computer out the window.
Hopefully there is a manual way that I can fix my computer because I am not able to download much and alot of programs wont run either.

Here are the Logs:

Let's try a few things.

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of the lines listed below. Then close all other windows--you should only see HijackThis on your Desktop--and click the Fix Checked button.

=================

Download the HostsXpert 3.7 - Hosts File Manager.
  • Unzip HostsXpert 3.7 - Hosts File Manager to a convenient folder such as C:\HostsXpert
  • Click HostsXpert.exe to Run HostsXpert 3.7 - Hosts File Manager from its new home
  • Click "Make Hosts Writable?" in the upper right corner (If available).
  • Click Restore Microsoft's Hosts file and then click OK.
  • Click the X to exit the program.
  • Note: If you were using a custom Hosts file you will need to replace any of those entries yourself.

=================

Please download ComboFix and save it to your desktop.
Prior to running Combofix.exe you should disable your antivirus program and disconnect from the internet.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's done running it will produce a log for you. Please post that log in your next reply.

Important Note - Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Let me know if you still can not access this site.

Ok, did the first two things u said to do and was able to.
ComboFix I had to download to a USB since I cant download it from the omputer since it wont let me go to any website to download it.
And when I transfered it to the infected computer it wont run it, even in safe wode wont run. This thing is driving me crazy.
I still cant access this site

Also when I run SuperAntiSpyware, (only in safe mode since it restarts the computer after a minute in normal mode) It says there is 36 found things, there is outerinfo installer, some browser hijacker and some others.
And when I remove them and restart my computer. After a while rerun the SuperAntiSpyware they are back there again

Rename combofix.exe to cf.exe and then try to run it once again.

Guess what!
I am writing this from my computer!! which means it worked!!!
Sam you are the man!!!! (hope you are a male) hahaha

The only problem I had was, when I started my computer it would just rebot itself.
I couldn't understand what it was, so I ran ComboFix in safe mode.
But it still kept rebooting when I tried to start in normal mode.
Then I figured it was the AVG Free 8.0 that I downloaded last nite, since thats the last thing I did that may affect the computer. and when I disabled it from start up, the computer didnt reboot itself.
only problem I have now is I cant uninstall AVG, it keeps saying that whats in the vault has an error, and it cant be uninstalled. Theres only one thing int the vault tho.

But anyway everything else seems GOOD! Computer is kinda slow but all works!!!

here is the ComboFix log:

You should be able to remove anything in AVG vault by going through the programs control panel. Then hopefully you can uninstall it.
Just a little cleaning up still with combofix.

Copy and paste ALL the following text in the Quote box below into Notepad.
Click on File(in the menu at the top)>Save as../Save as Type: 'All Files' /File name: CFScript to your desktop.

Folder::
c:\program files\zango

File::
K:\RavMon.exe

Registry::
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{c7fc25fc-81e8-11da-8b02-0013d48b99af}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\zango]
Prior to running Combofix.exe you should disable your antivirus program and disconnect from the internet.

Now drag then drop the CFScript file onto ComboFix.exe as seen in the image below.

This will start ComboFix again.
After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply.

If you're not using Norton for anything any longer, you can uninstall Live Update. It will speed things up for you.

You are running an older version of Java. This can be a security risk so let's get you the latest version.
Upgrading Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Select your Platform and check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.".
  • Click on Continue.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation (jre-6u6-windows-i586-p.exe) and save it to your desktop. Do NOT use the Sun Download Manager..
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.

Let me know if you're having any issues.

Everything seems perfect. Still just a little slow, but better than before.

Only weird thing is that this time when ComboFix finished it didnt put the clock back to the normal time.
So I adjusted it back myself.

Your log looks good to me.

Let's get rid of Combofix now that we're done with it.
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

  • When shown the disclaimer, Select "2"

================

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
  • Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable and reenable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point left over from what we have just cleaned.

You can find instructions on how to enable and reenable system restore here:

    Windows XP System Restore Guide

Renable system restore with instructions from tutorial above

  • Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
    • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
    • Click once on the Security tab
    • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
    • Click once on the Custom Level button.
      • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
      • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
      • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
      • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
      • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
      • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
      • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
      • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
    • Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
  • Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs:

Virus, Spyware, and Malware Protection and Removal Resources

  • Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  • Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:

    Understanding and Using Firewalls

  • Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

  • Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware , Malware, and Hijackers

  • Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. ou should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using Ad-aware to remove Spyware, Malware, & Hijackers from Your Computer

  • Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware

  • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

 :)
