The following is some of my problems using IE explorer. When opening internet explorer I get a popup and directs me to a bogus site. Which then i get several shortcuts added to my desktop when i use IE explorer, this also boggs it down by a huge percent. I've run Ad-wareSE, Spybot Search&Destroy, cwshredder, and microsoft anti-spyware ultilities several times. So, I then decided to unplug my network line and use IE explorer, it goes crazy trying to find what is "toolbar3.trafficgeneration.biz". So maybe this will help you troubleshoot this a little better. I also use Opera browser and it is not affected by the hijacking. This definitly seems to be tied to launching IE explorer everytime.
So, I did one good cleaning with all the ultilities listed above and ran HijackThis, here is the log file. PLEASE help me correct this issue.

I need to get samples of some of your files. Please create a folder called c:\submit. Now copy the following files into that directory:

C:\WINDOWS\READREG

To copy the files simply navigate to the directory they are in and right click on them and then click on copy. Then paste these files into the c:\submit directory. Once the files are all copied I need you to zip the folder and rename submit.zip to yourmembername.zip (for example grinler.zip). If you are using XP or ME right-click on the folder and click on the Send To option and then send it to a compressed folder. You will now see a file called submit.zip. If you are using another version of Windows, please download a program called Winzip and zip it using that. Then go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit-malware.php fill in the required fields, and browse to the file. Then click on the Send File button.

Print out these instructions and then close all windows including Internet Explorer.

Then I want you to fix some of those entries. Please do the following:

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then click the Fix button:

O16 - DPF: {9DBAFCCF-592F-FFFF-FFFF-00608CEC297C} - http://download.weatherbug.com/minibug/tri...?rand=200331613

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rsyncmon.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rtneg3.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\netsync.exe

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and post a new log.

Ok, I've done everything to show the windows hidden files. However the file
C:\WINDOWS\READREG, that you want me to copy and submit does not exsist on my machine. I've looked everywhere for it. So, should I still proceed with the cleanup and fix process you listed?
Thanx Again.........

Yes proceed with everything and post a new log. Also add this line to fix with everything:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DevconDefaultDB] C:\WINDOWS\READREG

Glinler,
Ok, I have done everything you instructed me to do. Here is the new log, I have noticed one thing maybe you can look at. I located and deleted the following file:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\netsync.exe. After reboot and scanning again with HijackThis, I reviewed it and the file is still in the log, if I deleted it, should it still be in the log? All the other files you posted seem to be deleted. I am currently using Opera browser, I have not run IE Explorer yet cause i don't want to re-infect everything. So, give a heads up when you think it's safe to run IE.

Thanks Again, you're a BIG help!!

NO deleteing the file will not fix the log.

O2 - BHO: DLMaxObj Class - {00000000-59D4-4008-9058-080011001200} - C:\WINDOWS\dlmax.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RSync] C:\WINDOWS\system32\netsync.exe

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

C:\WINDOWS\dlmax.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\netsync.exe

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and post a new log.

Log looks clean...great job!

Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable and reenable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

You can find instructions on how to enable and reenable system restore here:

Managing Windows Millenium System Restore

or

Windows XP System Restore Guide

Renable system restore with instructions from tutorial above

Next,

This process will clean out your Temp files and your Temporary Internet Files. Please do both steps:

Step 1:Delete Temp Files
To clean out your temp files, click on Start and then run, and type %temp% and press the ok button.

This should open up the temp directory that your machine uses. Please delete all files that are found there. If you get an error when deleting a file, skip that file and delete all the others. If you had trouble deleting a file, reboot into Safe Mode and follow this step again. You should now be able to delete all the files.

Step 2: Delete Temporary Internet Files
Now I want you to open up Internet Explorer, and click on the Tools menu and then Internet Options. At the General tab, which should be the first tab you are currently on, click on the Delete Files button and put a checkmark in Delete offline content. Then press the OK button. This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes. When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

Finally, and definitely the MOST IMPORTANT step, click on the following tutorial and follow each step listed there:

Simple and easy ways to keep your computer safe and secure on the Internet

Glad I was able to help.
