I'm not familiar with the game but it sounds corrupt. First make sure it's not in Add/Remove Programs. Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
. If it's listed in there, check the box and run the utility. If this game is from the internet, download it to the Desktop. Reboot the computer and start tapping the F8 key to go into Safemode. Select Safemode with CD support.
If the game is on CD, go ahead and install it or double-click the setup icon on the Desktop. After it's installed, reboot the computer and see what happens.
As far as S.M.A.R.T. goes, I would enable it in the BIOS.SMART description
