Ever since I installed Service Pack 3 about once a day my PC will lock up and I have to hard restart. I would say it has something to do with Firefox b/c I always have Firefox open when it happens but I have Firefox open the majority of the time so that might be a coincidence.

Also, a couple of times this has happened after I restart and load up Firefox again I have gotten a message saying that my foxmarks is missing a bunch of bookmarks and would l like to synchronize even though I am not missing any bookmarks. This has only happened a couple of times though so again may be incidental.

Anyone else have this problem or any ideas?

Thanks

Are you using Norton/Symantec products on your system? There's some known issues with them and SP3.
Also, here's a link to further SP3 info here at BC: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/146857/windows-xp-service-pack-3-sp3-information/
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

I don't have any constantly running A/V software. No Norton/Symantec products installed. I have ZoneAlarm running. I updated all my drivers as well. The only other program that runs at start-up is nForce.

I've seen a couple of posts (elsewhere) where ZA users had problems with SP3.

You might want to try uninstalling ZA and using the XP/Windows firewall for a short time...to see if your problems go away with ZA uninstallation.

Probably a good plan, I'll try that for a week.
Thanks.

How do I get Windows Firewall to run at Start Up? It keeps shutting down on me when I restart.

Start/Control Panel/Security Center...set the firewall to ON.

It's weird b/c the security center says it's on but when I go Control Panel/Windows Firewall it says that it's off.

It's all good. For some reason ZA was still running in the background even after restarting.
I'll let you know if the lock ups continue.
I may just have to uninstall and reinstall ZA. I had to do that with AVG and Ad Aware after installing SP3 to get them to run.
