Good day again!

As no one seems to be able to answer my previous threads questions, maybe somebody can at least answer this one for me please!
What is the difference between a Proxy Server and a VPN?

Many thanks and hoping for some luck this time!

All the best

John

Hi John,

A VPN is a Virtual Private Network, This is basically a group of connected computers that are on different networks. Using a VPN it is possible to share files with other people on your network.

A proxy server is basically a middle man, A computer connects to a proxy requesting a service from another server this is then sent back to system via a proxy.

Hope that helps
Regards,

Alan.

Thanks for that. So in fact VPN can hide identities like a proxy can? I don't know if you read my other thread (in the same section and just below this one) but if you do, you will see why I am asking these questions.

thanks again and regards.

John
