A few days back,i tried to install a program from an unreliable site (didnt know it at the time) that was supposed to help me with some problems im facing with Unreal Tournament 3. When i saw after the installation that a second one had begun without me doing anything i cancelled it, and went to remove the installed program (instead of the given name, i found Adzgalore in my "Add/Remove programs" folder and removed it). However, this didnt help and i started receiving frequent annoying popups for various sites.

I tried restoring the computer to a previous date (a save a few days back) ,but the computer was unable to complete the restore because 'no additional software has been installed since that date'. Run Norton Antivirus and Ad-Aware Se Personal, which found some infections but didnt remove Adzgalore. Run a search for file and folder names that fit *adzgalore*,of course nothing came up,and also removed the single file i found from the system registry (run regedit search and deleted the value).

What further steps can i take in removing this infection? Appreciate any help you can offer.

PS: Although not certain,i think [post=http://www.gamingnewslink.com/2007/11/23/fixes-for-unreal-tournament-3-errors-problems-bugs-and-crashes/]THIS[/post] is the site that had the malware installation .The link to it can be found in Problem #14, solution A

When i google an infection and only get a few hits that lead to HJT threads and all are from the last several days and some go on for over 20 posts, I would assume the infection is something self help tools will not remove--YET!

Please do the preperations for the HJT forum
