Hello skibrett15 and welcome to the BC forums. After reviewing your log I see a few items that require our attention. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.websearch.com/ie.aspx?tb_id=50141

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #2

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Reboot or turn the computer on.
  • As the computer starts, press and hold down the Ctrl key until the Windows 98 Startup Menu appears. (This also works with the F8 key following the same steps).
  • Choose Safe Mode from the Startup Menu.
  • Press Enter.
We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the View menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • In the Hidden files section select Show all files.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\WINTOOLS\ <--folder
C:\PROGRAM FILES\Web Offer\ <--folder
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\TITA.DLL
c:\windows\system\mscnt.exe
c:\windows\system\pwr32ctrl.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\fik.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\oaas.exe
C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES\SBCIE028.DLL
stlb2.dll (search for this file and delete it)
E6F1873B.DLL (search for this file and delte it)

This process will clean out your Temp files and your Temporary Internet Files. Please do both steps:

Step 1:Delete Temp Files
To clean out your temp files, click on Start and then Run, and type %temp% and press the OK button.

This should open up the temp folder that your machine uses. Please delete all files that are found there. If you get an error when deleting a file, skip that file and delete all the others. If you had trouble deleting a file, reboot into Safe Mode and follow this step again. You should now be able to delete all the files.

Do this same process for %windir%\temp.

Step 2: Delete Temporary Internet Files
Now I want you to click Start then Settings then Control Panel. Double-click the Internet Options icon. At the General tab, which should be the first tab you are currently on. Click on the Delete Files button and put a checkmark in Delete offline content. Then press the OK button. This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes. When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

Step #3

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Post your new log file back here as a relpy to this topic and I will review it.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.

Hi skibrett15. Quick question. You are already reinfected with a new malware program. Were you able to complete all of the steps in the directions above and did you delete all of the files specified? If so, have you installed any applications inbetween the time that you performed the fix and the time that you ran a new HijackThis log?

Depending on what's going on here we might have to change our tactics.

Alos verify that your McAfee antivirus is still valid (your subscription is up to date) and that you have the latest virus definition files.

Cheers.

well, I deleted every one of the problems from the Hijakthis log that you specified It counted 29 which was the number you had there. I couldn't find these files:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\TITA.DLL
c:\windows\system\mscnt.exe
c:\windows\system\pwr32ctrl.exe
C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES\SBCIE028.DLL

It did say not to worry if I couldn't find those at those locations so I didn't worry about it.

Only thing is that I didn't empty the recycle bin with all the temp files and the files that you specifically said to delete until after I went back to normal mode and did another hijackthis scan. Sorry if that was a noobish mistake.

No new applications were installed. As for McAfee it has not been updated in a while.

I do notice that in the log there are some things pertaining to Wintools, which I was supposed to delete similar things in the initial instructions. That was the malware program that I first found out I had through some sort of script.

Thanks for your assistance so far.

Hello again skibrett15. Ok. Let's go after this again. Please proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Download CleanUp! and install it but do not run it yet.

Step #2

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.websearch.com/ie.aspx?tb_id=50141
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://www.websearch.com/ie.aspx?tb_id=50141

ok, I finally got my computer working again. After running those two virus scans (not pandaware) I restarted my computer and then kept getting the message about an error with program moniter among others and my computer would never restart. One time when it loaded, the virus scan thing deleted some things via a dos prompt. After that, I used a rescue disk and reloaded windows. Now when I go to the spyware detection script it says I am all clear. I am a little wary of doing anything else that may screw me like last time. Thanks for the help.

Hey skibrett15. You had some nasty infections on your computer. If you just did a repair install they could very easily be there. If you want me to check please post a new HijackThis log so we can be sure. Otherwise I will close this post.

Cheers.
