Firstly I'd like to ask you to bear with me as I'm a bit of a technophobe and a forum virgin! I think what you guys do is great though and hoping you can help me too!
Basically I have a number of trojans/adware things showing up that I can't seem to shift, the computer is so slow and getting crazy pop-ups all the time, I've tried AVG/Spybot etc but nothing is working.

The names I can remember are Vortumonde, Trojan.Vundo-Variant, Trojan.PurityScan. Hope you can help!

Hi,

It looks like you ran Combofix for two times.

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wspxeecf.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lfmgphvk.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysldr.exe
Folder::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vntiho18
C:\WINDOWS\system32\zID
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mc4
C:\WINDOWS\system32\get1
C:\VundoFix Backups
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ipd
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Tarma Installer
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vntiho05
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cox37
C:\Documents and Settings\Stefan Weber\Application Data\IBPlugin
Driver::
WinDriver
pciinfo
Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{000051AF-07E2-461B-BA37-A2AF7E652E7D}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"BM6998b759"=-
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{774a0dcc-1c2e-11dc-a73d-0014a5285550}]

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Posted Image

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.

Hi,

Almost done. :thumbsup:

Navigate to and delete the following folder:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\cox3 <== this folder

* Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /u

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /
Then hit enter.

This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

That's that done :thumbsup: so fingers crossed! The only problem now is i also have it on my other laptop and pocketpc! aaaargh! Do you know where I could have got it from? I thought I would have been protected with Avast :)

Anyway, thanks for all your patience and time - what you do for clueless people like me is amazing!

Hi,

I don't know where you got it from, but this malware is in 80% of the cases installed via illegal software. (cracks/keygens)
If you need help with the other computers, just start with posting a HijackThislog in this thread from the other computer (laptop first), then we'll deal with the pocketpc afterwards.

Hi,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

O2 - BHO: IP - {000051AF-07E2-461B-BA37-A2AF7E652E7D} - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ipd\ipb.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D6D717C3-34EE-48BB-BF3D-465F44C6C10D} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - (no file)
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE
<== this is a resource hog
O4 - Global Startup: Start DonorLink System Tray App.lnk = C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ipd\tray.exe

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

This infection comes with a bundled installer, so let's see what else is still present there, so we can remove it all in once.
Can you also download/use Combofix on this computer and post the log in your next reply.

Hi,

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\g13.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\prkhrdka.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\{eeef41d7-934b-01af-8ff9-1d72b86b3348}.dll-uninst.exe
Folder::
C:\VundoFix Backups
C:\Documents and Settings\Paddy\Application Data\IBPlugin
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Tarma Installer
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ipd
C:\WINDOWS\system32\zID
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vntiho18
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mc4
C:\WINDOWS\system32\get1
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cox3
Dirlook::
C:\WINDOWS\U2F6
Registry::
[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"ALUAlert"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center]
"AntiVirusDisableNotify"=dword:00000000
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\F]

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.

I'm pretty sure the other computers got infected via a flashdrive you have been using. It contains the file Start.exe.
For that.... * Download next removal tool to your desktop:
http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/s...Disinfector.exe
If you have any flashdrives being used previously, since this is a flashdrive infection, insert your flashdrive as well, because above tool will disinfect it as well.
Then doubleclick the Flash_Disinfector.exe to run the tool.
Your desktop and icons will disappear afterwards. This is normal.
When the tool has finished, reboot your computer.

Then please delete the Start.exe file and autorun.inf files from your flashdrive if still present.

Edited to add instructions to use the Flashdrive disinfection tool in order to prevent reinfection if you browse to your flashdrive.

It looks like your Avast was downloading an update in a meanwhile which explains this part in your Combofix log:

catchme 0.3.1361 W2K/XP/Vista - rootkit/stealth malware detector by Gmer, http://www.gmer.net
Rootkit scan 2008-06-06 12:23:37
Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 NTFS

scanning hidden processes ...

scanning hidden autostart entries ...

scanning hidden files ...

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\_av_proI.tm~a03684\dld1.tmp

scan completed successfully
hidden files: 1

Anyway, this computer seems to be fixed now as well.

please uninstall Combofix on this computer too..

* Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /u

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /
Then hit enter.

Then, post a Combofix log from your third computer which is infected :thumbsup:
