I have a question about this message. C:\Windows\System32\MSIMG32.dll error or not designed to run on Windows. Does anyone know what this means? Yesterday when I turned on my computer this is what I got after it went through to the uploading process. I just received this computer 22 May and I'm tussling with Dell about warranties since I'm having issues so soon. I hope this is an easy fix, I transferred files from an old computer via a data transfer cable and if I have to install the OS again I would have lost an incredible amount of crucial data. I don't have the old computer any longer.

This is likely to be either a file corruption or malware.

Try a couple of these free, online scanners to see if anything has slipped by your protection:
(Be advised that some of these scanners will pickup things in "quarantine" from other anti-virus programs - so review the results carefully)

I'd suggest that now would be a good time to invest in a backup strategy so that you won't lose your stuff. Should Dell decide that they want you to return the PC you'll won't have your data saved on anything.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Thanks USAMA,

How do I use these anti-virus programs when the system doesn't bring up anything? I followed the manual and F8 for the advance start up, and it is not working. I can get into something with the F2 or F12 key. I don't know how to use these online scanners when I can't get past the screen that says Dell. Again this computer isn't a month old and I'm having these issues. I did purchase one of those external hard drives like a huge capacity data stick and I have some of my files backed up on it, but not everything. Do you have any suggestions on how I use the scanner considering my situation?

What if your system isn't starting in safe mode when pressing F8? I'm really running out of options with this piece of junk Dell made.

Does Dell provide reinstallation CDs? If they do, put it in the drive, then restart the computer. When you get to the screen where it says "install now," click on "repair your computer" instead. Try startup repair first, then system restore.
