I ran combofix on my xp sp3. After it had run i discovered that

1. window firewall serivce was re-enabled (I had disabled it)

2 avast trayicon does not show in tray meny

3..jpg file association changed from acdsee to "windows picture and fix viewer"!

I changed them back to the way they were and ran combofix again to make sure it was combofix that was the culprit..
And yes, same thing happens over again

This worries me, I wonder what other changes it did without me knowing!

Why does combofix make these changes?

you should NEVER run combofix unless instructed to do so by a malware expert;
to run it unsupervised can render your computer forever unbootable and completley useless
one assumes you did not fully read the combofix disclaimer?

to help us help you can you please describe exactly what your computer problems are , what your windows version is, your installed antivirus program and other protection programs; when they were all last fully updated and run on full computer scans;

what are your computer symptoms of an infection??

we can then advise you further

thank you
