Hi Aaron99 and welcome to the BC forums. Without internet access we'll have to do things the old fashioned way. Let's see if we can put a hurt on this thing with just HijackThis. Please print these directions off and them try them on your other computer.

Step #1

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Step #2

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\Userinit.exe
O2 - BHO: IE Update Class - {5B4AB8E2-6DC5-477A-B637-BF3C1A2E5993} - C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\sysupd.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [XGhA] C:\WINDOWS\pkytxct.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows AdStatus] C:\Program Files\Windows AdStatus\WinStat.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [-] C:\WINDOWS\pkytxct.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Desktop Search] C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\desktop.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ffis] C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\ffisearch.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jagdop] c:\windows\system32\jagdop.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nsvcin] C:\Documents and Settings\AARON\n20050308.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Nsv] C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsvsvc\nsvsvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [picsvr] C:\WINDOWS\system32\picsvr\picsvr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rakln.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ 8*]M*aaaC:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe] C:\WINDOWS\pkytxct.exe
O16 - DPF: {15AD6789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://static.windupdates.com/cab/MusicAcc...bridge-c528.cab
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} - http://207.188.7.150/143f617f6ae1504d6700/netzip/RdxIE2.cab
O16 - DPF: {87067F04-DE4C-4688-BC3C-4FCF39D609E7} - http://download.websearch.com/Dnl/T_50252/QDow_AS2.cab
O16 - DPF: {BAB3E70B-A847-4A88-ACFC-778FCCC00287} (CActSetupObj Object) - http://www.odysseusmarketing.com/actsetup.cab
O18 - Filter: text/html - {950238FB-C706-4791-8674-4D429F85897E} - C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\mfiltis.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Explorer - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dnjs0117e.dll

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #3

Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\ <--folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsvsvc\ <--folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\picsvr\ <--folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rakln.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dnjs0117e.dll
c:\windows\system32\jagdop.exe
C:\WINDOWS\pkytxct.exe
C:\Program Files\Windows AdStatus\ <--folder
C:\Documents and Settings\AARON\n20050308.exe

Step #4

Next, let's clean up the temporary folders:
  • Click Start
  • Point to Programs
  • Point to Accessories
  • Point to System Tools
  • Click Disk Cleanup
  • Select the following items that are present and then click the OK button.
  • Temp Setup Files
  • Downloaded Program Files
  • Temp Internet Files
  • Debug Dump Files
  • Office Setup Files
  • Old chkdsk files
  • Recycle Bin
  • Temp Remote Desktop Files
  • Setup Log Files
  • Temp Files
  • WebClient temp files
Step #5

OK. Reboot your computer normally. Try to get on the internet and if you can run at least 2 of the following on-line virus scans:Trend Micro Housecall
BitDefender On-Line Virus Scan
Panda ActiveScan
Make sure that you choose "fix" or "clean".

Step #6

Reboot your computer normally again, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Post your new log file back here using the Add Reply button and I will review it when it comes in.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.

Thanks OT, I'll try doing that when I go home tonight.

Without internet access we'll have to do things the old fashioned way

I have internet access from work, if you were going to have me download something, I could put it on a disk and take it home.

Hey Aaron99. Glad to hear you're back on the internet! How was Canada?

Well, we got about half of it that round. Let's see if we can knock this thing down some more. It appears that we have a regular smorgasboard of possible infections here so let's get some specialized tools and let them run.

Step #1

Download the Symantec ISTBar Removal Tool to your desktop and then close ALL open windows. Locate the FxIstBar.exe file on your desktop and double-click on it to start it. Follow the prompts to run it.

Step #2

Now we will remove some programs using Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel:
  • Click Start.
  • Click Control Panel.
  • Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  • Look in the Currently installed programs box for each program listed below and if it is there:
  • Click on it to select it.
  • Click Change (or Change/Remove) button.
  • If you are prompted to confirm the removal of the program, click Yes.
Delphin Media Viewer (or anything with Delphin in the name)
Step #3

Download the Pocket Killbox.

Unzip the contents of KillBox.zip to a convenient location and then double-click on KillBox.exe to launch the program.
  • Click on Delete on Reboot and then click the checkbox for Use Dummy (repeat this for every file).
  • Paste this file into the top Full Path of File to Delete field.
    • C:\WINDOWS\pkytxct.exe
  • Click the Delete File button which looks like a stop sign.
  • Click No at the Pending Operations prompt.
Repeat the above steps for each of the following files. The only difference is that you will be substituting the file listed in the first step with each of the files below. C:\WINDOWS\system32\rakln.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\n20050308.EXE

After you add the last file and it prompts to reboot, you should press the Yes button to allow it to do so. If you encounter any error messages then reboot manually.

Step #4

OK, let's see what's left. Start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps using the Add Reply button and I will review it when it comes in.

Canada was good, with the exception of all the people talking in French

I completed all of the steps successfully, except deleting Delphin because I didn't see it on the list.

Here is my new log:

Hey Aaron99. We've got a stubborn one here that's going to put up a fight. We basically have 2 different infections here that we have to remove. Let's try the following.

Step #1

Download Registrar Lite and install it.

Start Registrar Lite and copy/paste the line below into the Address: bar at the top and press the Enter key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
In the right-hand pane locate each of the following entries, click on them and then click on the red 'X' in the toolbar to delete them:O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ 8*aaaYC:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe] C:\WINDOWS\pkytxct.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ 88*]M*aaC:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe] C:\WINDOWS\pkytxct.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ 888*]M*aC:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe] C:\WINDOWS\pkytxct.exe

When finished, close Registrar Lite.

Step #2

I want to make sure that this folder is gone. It appears that it is still on your system.

Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\ <--folder
Step #3

To find all of the Qoologic files I need yo to run a special tool. Please do the following:
  • Download FindQoologic2.zip save it to your Desktop.
  • Unzip Find-Qoologic2.zip to its own folder and then use Windows Explorer to navigate to that folder.
  • Double-click the Find-Qoologic2.bat file to run it. It will take some time so be patient.
  • When Notepad opens with the results in it copy/paste the entire contents of the document back here.
Step #4

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and the information from the Qoologic scan using the Add Reply button and I will review it when it comes in.
