Userinit, Rundll.exe And Cmd.exe Fail To Initialise + Other Problems!

Ok, I seem to have a string of problems.

1) When I try to logon, I get a message saying userinit failed to initialise
2) I have to manually start explorer.exe as a process
3) It then says rundll.exe failed to initialise
4) If I run cmd.exe, it also says it failed to initialise
5) Autoupdate becomes disabled
6) No control panel functions work

ESET has recently quarantined quite a few files. These are:

Note: this one repeats many times (every time i boot)
31/05/2008 2:06:48 PM HTTP filter file <hxxp://> Win32/PrivacySet.B trojan connection terminated - quarantined STAS-NB\Stas M Threat was detected upon access to web by the application: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe. This seems to be that SmitFraud virus, but I can't run the smitfraudfix as my cmd.exe doesn't work sad.gif

Notice the No action taken. on the MBAM log.
Run it again using the following instrunctions to CLEAN.

Start MBAM and check for an Update.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. <<---- This looks like the step you didn't do
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with the following log.
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.


Next download OTScanIt.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTScanIt on your desktop.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • If your Real protection or Antivirus intervenes with OTScanIt, allow it to run.
  • Open the OTScanit folder and double-click on OTScanit.exe to start the program.
    (Vista users, please right click on OtScanIt.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Leave all the setting to the default except as noted below
  • Under the Drivers section check the box for Non Microsoft
  • Under Rootkit check YES
  • Under Additional Scans sections, check the following
  • Reg - BotCheck
  • File - Additional Folder Scan
[*]Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
[*]The program will be scanning huge amounts of data so depending on your system it could take a long time to complete. Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
[*]When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
[*]Save that notepad file
[/list]If the log is too large to post, use the Reply button, scroll down to the attachments section and attach the notepad file here.
