Hi stogieking,

Please uninstall Viewpoint Media Player from Add\Remove Programs.
Removing Viewpoint Media Player may cause the program that bundled it to not function as intended.
About Viewpoint Media Player.

You have a Horseserver infection which requires some tools to get rid of.
  • First, download HSFix from here
  • After it is downloaded, create a new folder on your desktop called "HSFix" and extract all the files into the newly created folder.
  • Next, download CleanUp! Install it, but do not run it yet.
  • Boot into safe mode: Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.
  • Locate the HSFix folder on your desktop, open it, and double-click "hsfix.bat"
  • A log will be produced which you can close out of.
  • Then run HijackThis again, close any open windows and browsers and fix these:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery\Blank.htm
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery\Blank.htm

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Service Host] C:\WINDOWS\System32\Services\{ECAD14E0-0BD0-4D73-AEBA-80F6DD798A67}\SVCHOST.EXE

    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Viewpoint Search - res://C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint
    Toolbar\ViewBar.dll/CXTSEARCH.HTML

    O15 - Trusted Zone: *.windupdates.com (HKLM)

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: drct16 - drct16.dll (file missing)

O23 - Service: Provides three management service (FreeBSD) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\dev32.exe

    Delete these files and folders:
    C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\ <-- folder
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\Services\{ECAD14E0-0BD0-4D73-AEBA-80F6DD798A67}\ <-- folder

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\dev32.exe <-- file
  • Run CleanUp! and let it clean your computer of temp files. Decline when it asks you to log off.
  • Restart your computer into normal mode and run at least one of the following free, online virus scans:
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/co...n_principal.htm
    http://www3.ca.com/threatinfo/virusinfo/scan.aspx
  • Restart your computer one last time and post a new HijackThis log, as well as the HSFix log which is located at C:/hslog.txt

Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?

Sorry for the delay but was out of town on business. I removed viewpoint media player, was not sure if I should remove viewpoint manager. Also I fixed all the filesthat you said except O20 - Winlogon Notify: drct16 - drct16.dll (file missing) was not there to fix. Also when I tryed to run one of the virus scans that you suggested my anti virus system said there was a virus in it so i cancelled it.

Also when I tryed to run one of the virus scans that you suggested my anti virus system said there was a virus in it so i cancelled it.

LOL, try again. It's no virus there.

If this is not possible:
Download System Cleaner
http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/tsc/sysclean.com

Save it in a permanent folder, such as syscleaner

Download the pattern file (Official Pattern Release 2.552.00 - Apr 09, 2005):
http://www.trendmicro.com/download/pattern.asp
and unzip the content in the same folder syscleaner.

REBOOT into SafeMode, disable temporarily you antivirus, run sysclean.com, make sure
"Automatically Clean Infected Files" is checked and press
the SCAN button.

REBOOT normally.

Your log looks clean.

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

(Only for Windows ME & XP) Disable and Enable System Restore. Tutorial here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/windows-xp-system-restore-guide/

How did I get infected ? With steps so it does not happen again !

Glad I was able to help.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?
