VIRUS ALERT! in clock and how to restore it

Welcome to BC z23

If you have an issue or problem you would like to discuss, please start your own topic. Doing that will help to avoid the confusion that often occurs when trying to help two or more members in the same thread with different problems. Even if your problem is similar to the original poster's problem, the solution could be different based on the kind of hardware, software, system requirements, etc. you are using and the presence of other malware. Further, posting for assistance in someone else's topic is not considered proper forum etiquette.

Thanks for your cooperation.

I had this trouble too, I found it was a "Regional Setting" in Control panel that modified the format of the System Clock to include the text "Virus Alert" after the time. Lot's of weird stuff happen when the time format is goofed up like this!

Changes in the format of the System Clock are not the only settings modified by this infection. There are several others which must be corrected as well when performing disinfection.

Thanks for that. Really great posting, I'm running Superspyware and Malwarebytes now.

Just to finish tidying up the registry settings to get rid of the annoying message by the clock and the profile issues, I found a really good post here: miekiemoes blog

which gives a nice inf file to run, and the locations of the registry entries to modify and any other ways to make the changes if one is a little scared by regedit.

Muchly.

Rich.
