I have looked all over but can't find anything to do with disc scanning or defragmentation on my new HP Compaq.

Help please!
Many thanks.
John

Go to Start...All Programs...Accessories...System Tools. Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter are located there.

Alternatively, go to Start...Control Panel (Classic View)...Performance Information and Tools for Disk Cleanup and other good stuff
Then, go to the Advanced Settings to see Disk Defragmenter and even more tools.

As with the change in each version, things are slightly re-arranged. That's the aggravation of a new OS. But it's also the attraction - new stuff to play with and new stuff to discover. Good luck!

My experience with Vista's Defragment tool is that... it isn't really a great tool. there's no visual representation of what's going on and how long it would take. (It takes my computer FOREVER to defrag my harddrive) so i looked for an alternative... AusLogics Disk Defrag. *It's free by the way... (just push finish at the end of the defrag... it says your computer is not optimized.) it gives you a visual representation, process bar, and a simple interface. link: http://www.auslogics.com/disk-defrag/index.php *It supports x64!!
