About 6 months ago I had my account from Final Fantasy Online stolen. It was assumed by people in the gaming community that this was done by the rsbo.exe keylogger that used an old realplayer exploit. This virus was injected into many FF websites in the form of an iframe. At the time I was not using IE as a browser and even though I was firewalled and had several AV programs installed with all security up to date it still got past everything. My password and login info was all autosaved so I never typed them in so they were stolen by some other means than a simple keylogger, possibly by stealing and breaking the login file for the game stored on my harddrive. Anyway, after my account was stolen I found rsbo.exe as well as in3.dll and kb1ss1p.dll which I was told were associated with it and manually removed them as well as the registry changes they added since no AV programs I had would detect them.

Now, 6 months later I may be getting my account returned. If not I may start playing another online MMO which could be affected by this. Either way I'd like to know if my system was clean or not. I have become very paranoid about entering any personal information online such as CC or any other kind of account information.

Hello

Apologize for the delay in response we get overwhelmed at times but we are trying our best to keep up.
If you have since resolved the original problem you were having would appreciate you letting us know If not please perform the following below so I can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

click on Start, click on Run
copy and paste the following in bold in the open window and then click OK
"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config
This will open up DSS configuration
click on Check All
click Scan
DSS will now run again when finished
Please post back both logs that open in notepad
Main txt and extra txt

Next
Please do a scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner

Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.

Click on the Accept button and install any components it needs.
  • The program will install and then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  • After the files have been downloaded on the left side of the page in the Scan section select My Computer
  • This will start the program and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete, click on View scan report
  • Now, click on the Save Report as button.
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

I am unable to the run Kapersky online scanner because I can't update Java for some reason. All I get is a jxpiiinstall.exe is not a valid Win32 application error. I've even uninstalled the previous version of Java I had and it still doesn't install. Here are the DSS logs though:

Before we start fixing anything you should print out these instructions or copy them to a NotePad file so they will be accessible. Some steps will require you to disconnect from the Internet or use Safe Mode and you will not have access to this page.

Please download SDFix by AndyManchesta and save it to your desktop.
When using this tool, you must use the Administrator's account or an account with "Administrative rights"
  • Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
  • (this is the drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix).
  • DO NOT use it just yet.
Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Open the SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services or Registry Entries found then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts, the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
  • Copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt in your next replyalong with a new HijackThis log.
-- If this error message is displayed when running SDFix: "The command prompt has been disabled by your administrator. Press any key to continue..."
Please go to Start Menu > Run > and copy/paste the following line:
%systemdrive%\SDFix\apps\swreg IMPORT %systemdrive%\SDFix\apps\Enable_Command_Prompt.reg
Press Ok and then run SDFix again.

-- If the Command Prompt window flashes on then off again on XP or Win 2000, please go to Start Menu > Run > and copy/paste the following line:

Is it behaving better now ?

Please go to Start > Run. In the box that appears, carefully copy and paste the following:

"%Userprofile%\Desktop\dss.exe" /daft

Accept the disclaimer, and click the "Scan" button. Place a checkmark next to everything that appears and press "Fix". Afterwards, close the window.

Also
Please do a scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner

Next
click on Start, click on Run
copy and paste the following in bold in the open window and then click OK
"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config
This will open up DSS configuration
click on Check All
click Scan
DSS will now run again when finished
Please post back both logs that open in notepad
Main txt and extra txt

I ended up reformatting my computer but I still seem to be having problems. I can't get DSS to work now. Right before it gets to the end the program crashes and wants to send an error report. Also after attempting to install an optional Windows Update for my soundblaster card it started a memory dump. After that I had to reinstall my soundcard to get it to work again. Now there is also a <FILE MISSING> and unknown owner line in my hijackthis log. The memory dump said something about the new driver possibly being exploited to allow someone to take control of the computer.

It also freezes up with something using 100% of the processor for sometimes up to 5 minutes before it will unfreeze. I can't seem to be able to have BitDefender and SpywareDoctor running at the same time as that makes the problem even worse. I know that running two AV programs is bad but I thought that anti-spyware could be run at the same time without causing problems. I'm not sure if there's anything you can do to help at this point but if you could I would really appreciate it.
