My son and his friend are trying to build a computer for the first time and have run into a snag. The system booted up (I think) they got the monitor to run for a few minutes and then it shut down and any subsequent efforts to get a display image have failed. They tried a different monitor, a different vcard to nop affect. They are grounded to the chassis. We think the motherboard isn't getting to POST

The original v card has a light on it, which is on, but they are still getting nothing.

Any ideas?

Start taking out components one at a time and see if it works after you take each component out. Like take out the sound, and start the computer. Take out one piece of memory and start the computer. Take out the other piece of memory. Make sure all cards are firmly seated
