I've been around a long time (my first PC was a 386) I have never been very sociable though. So when it comes to these forums I'm a bit of a newbie. My personal machine is an ASUS P5K MOBO w/Pentium D 805 and 4 gig of 800 mhz DDR2. Maxtor 250 Gb S-ATA, Hitachi 160 Gb S-ATA. TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203N optical drive also S-ATA. ATI All-In-Wonder 2006 PCI-ex w/256 meg. graphics card. Creative X-fi Platinum sound card all housed in an Antek Sonata II case. LCD 20" wide format monitor. Logitech Z-5500 5.1 sound system. Running Win XP Pro.
I'm pretty happy with my system but I'm always changing something. I think the next upgrade will be a new CPU. Probably a Core 2 duo e6550. Maybe an e6750 or even a Core 2 Quad.
It's not paranoia if they really are out to get you.

ASUS P5K SE, Core2duo E8500, 4 Gb 800Mhz DDR2, Seagate 1 Tb SATA, Hitachi 1 Tb SATA, LG BDDVDRW 6x Blu-Ray ATI All-in-Wonder HD, 24 inch SOYO wide format LCD Monitor, X-Fi Platinum, Logitech Z-5500 Speaker System

With all the new processors, it is difficult to keep up with the advances.
Welcome to BC!
