New Acer Flat Screen Monitor -- Proportions

I've been into all the help and properties I can find but haven't been able to adjust the width so pictures do not have exaggerated width.

System is Acer Aspire running Vista Home Premium.

All suggestions appreciated. thanks

You've tried changing resolution. correct?

thanks garmanma. Have tried those and can get a better proportion but still too wide ... Thing is that I really like the big wide screen for doing text but to look at the pics of my grandkids, etc. I'd like them to be undistorted.

I'd think that there must be a way .. even if it only uses 2/3 of the monitor width. When I use the small frame option I can only collapse the display so far before I begin to chop off data .. and I estimate the width is still 20% too wide.

monitor is Acer P191w and system is Acer AM3100-U3401A: AMD Anthion 64x2 w/ 3GB DDR memory; running Vista Home Premium w/SP1.

I have an email into Acer .. if they come up with an answer, I'll post it.

got there but my monitor not specifically listed so tried the closest and could not completed the download .. did all the upgrades as required but "... could not complete..."

I'm getting used to pumpkin shaped faces :-)
