Windows defrag problem

An attempt to run Win XP defrag resulted in "an error occured in C:\WINDOWS\TASKS\SA.DAT"
I do not have any tasks and the tasks folder is empty.
Any ideas would be appretiated.

You cannot run Defrag if the disc is reporting errors.

You can try Running CHKDISK and use FIX. Otherwise try DEFRAG in SAFE MODE (Hit F8 as PC Starts and then select Safe Mode) Then hit defrag
